Sign-Up for Text Messaging
It is important that all parents of the school are registered to receive alert text messages. This will be one of the primary ways we communicate with you regarding weather related emergencies and other important information such as possible delayed openings, school closures, and school events.
Emergency Response Plan
The school has a written Emergency Response Plan so that we may better prepared to handle various types of emergency situations. The Plan is only available to school staff members because it contains information about the school. In the event of an emergency, we have made provisions to contact all parents by phone. As shown, we may also reach-out by text message.
Pre-Determined Off-Site Evacuation Locations
As a result of toxic spill, explosion, gas leak, natural disaster, facility hazard, bomb threat, or some other issue that would require we leave our facilities, we would move students to an off-site evacuation site. Staff and students would immediately attempt to relocate via school bus, staff vehicles, parent vehicles, emergency responder vehicles, or by some other safe method, to one of the following:
Students would be escorted to the off-site location, and remain there until the “All Clear” is declared, or until Parent Reunification has been organized and parents have been notified when and where to pick-up children.
In the event of a major hazard that necessitates a large evacuation, such as several neighborhoods, government authorities may determine the mass shelter locations. All staff members will accompany their assigned children to the shelter and remain with them while families are notified.
After an emergency incident, and once it is deemed safe to pick-up the children, parents will be directed by school staff to the pick-up location for reunification. Students will only be released to persons who are listed on the student’s Emergency Contact Form.
